Micksburg defeats Valley As, advances to semi-finals (updated WITH DETAILS)

The Micksburg Twins won game two of their best-of-three series over the Ottawa Valley As on Thursday night by a score of 9-1 to advance to the Greater Ottawa Fastball League semi-finals.

Joran Graham had the win, while Ryley Burns took the loss. Chad Costello had a home run for the Twins.

The Micksburg Twins and Ottawa Valley As squared off in game two of their Greater Ottawa Fastball League playoff series Thursday night in Micksburg.

Joran Graham got the start for the home town Twins and Ryley Burns for the As.

The home team got things going in the second inning as Jamey Mick led off with a single to left field. After Chad Costello drew a walk, Scott Conroy laid down a bunt which the As played perfectly and got the lead runner at third. After another walk loaded the bases. Paul Griffith hit a single up the middle scoring two runs giving the home team the 2-0 lead. Kurt Levet then hit a sac fly to center scoring another run. Matt McIntyre followed with a triple over the center fielder's head adding another run for the Twins. He later scored on a single giving the home side a 5-0 lead.

The As got on the board in the third after a miss played fly ball gave them a runner on third with two out and then scored on a single to right cutting the lead 5-1.

The Twins got the run back in the third as Costello lead things off with a walk and advanced to third on a long fly ball off the center field fence just missing a home run by Conroy. Costello then scored on a ground out by Griffith.

With the score now 7-1 in the sixth, Chad Costello ended the game with a 2-run shot to left center giving the home side a 9-1 win and series win. Joran Graham had a complete game win pitching well.
