West Carleton Electric wins Harbour Days game (WITH DETAILS)
West Carleton Electric won the Harbour Days game 4-3 over the Ottawa Valley As in a well played game on Thursday in Fitzroy Harbour in front of a good crowd.
Andy Barber earned the win for WC, while Adam Rueckwald threw well taking the loss for Valley.
The Electric got on the board in the bottom of the first. Barber singled and scored all the way from first on Mike Cavanagh's double to right field.
After three scoreless frames, Valley tied it up in the top of the fifth. Clay Vance lead off with a triple and scored on Kyle Couvieau's ground out.
West Carleton got that run back in the fifth on an Andy Barber solo home run.
The A's answered right back in the top of the sixth. Steve Frost doubled to start the inning, stole third on a fake bunt and scored on a Ryley Burns single to tie things at 2-2.
West Carleton took back the lead in the bottom of the sixth. Jeff Cavanagh started things with a single and was moved to second on a sac bunt by Shawn Rebertz. Neil Murphy's double off the grey monster in right field scored Cavanagh. Murphy then attempted to take third on a wild pitch, but a good bounce had the catcher immediately get the ball and try to throw him out. An errant throw allowed Murphy to score.
Clay Vance lead off the seventh with a single, took second on a wild pitch and scored on Couvieau's single. Pinch runner Jackson Vance stole second, but Barber left him there, striking out the remaining three batters to get the 4-3 victory.
