Monday night in Fitzroy

In a rare Greater Ottawa Fastball League doubleheader on a Monday night in Fitzroy Harbour, the visiting Quyon Flyers came away with a win and a loss.

Game 1 - Quyon Flyers 8 West Carleton Electric 7

The first game of the night saw the Flyers edge the 'Trics 8-7. Matt Greer earned the complete win. Mitch Taylor got his first ever start for the Electric going four innings before giving way to Steve Cavanagh who took the loss.

Greer had two homers for the Flyers. Trevor Barton and Cavanagh hit homers for WC.

Quyon led 3-1 going into the bottom of the sixth. West Carleton responded with a four run spread to go up 5-3. However, the Flyers put up five in the top of the seventh, capitalizing on a few WC miscues, to make it 8-5. A two run bottom got it within one, but Quyon held on for the win.

Game 2 - Ottawa Valley As 12 Quyon Flyers 5

The nightcap saw the As invoke the run rule, winning 12-5 over the Flyers. Once again Greer got the ball for Quyon but this time took the loss. Adam Rueckwald earned the win for Valley.

Clayton Vance, Sean Lecuyer and Ben Broek all hit homers for Valley, while Nick Armitage hit one out for Quyon.
