West Carleton Electric U12 boys win silver
The West Carleton Junior Electric U12 rep boys team won silver medals at the eight-team Ontario Amateur Softball Association Provincial A tournament in Ponsonby this past weekend.
The 'Trics started their tournament off with a big 9-3 win over St. George Spartans on Friday night. On Saturday morning, the WC team got by Tara Titans 13-7. This set up the "undefeated game" against their rivals the Napanee Express. WC won 4-3 in a very well played game of fastpitch softball to advance to the finals, where they would have to be beat twice.
Napanee won their way through the losers' side to advance to the final.
On Sunday, the first final game ended 12-7 for Napanee, requiring the "if necessary" game to be played in the double knockout event. That proved to a crazy match up, with several lead changes, and requiring an eighth (extra) inning. In the end, the Napanee team prevailed 12-9.
The U12 Trics are coached by three GOFLers: Trevor Barton, Shawn Rebertz and Sean Lecuyer
