WC wins 3-0 in Blackburn

West Carleton Electric won 3-0 over the Orleans Rebels in Greater Ottawa Fastball League play on Friday night in Blackburn Hamlet in a well-played error-free game.

Adam Rueckwald threw a two hit shutout, striking out nine and walking one. Andy Barber took the loss.

Conner Hopper's solo homer in the first put the visitors up early.

Orleans best chance to score was in the third. Andre Mainville singled to lead off, and with one out, Travis Valois walked. Spencer Rodd then hit a screaming line drive - which struck Rueckwald in the thigh. He picked up the ball and got the out at first. A ground out ended the inning.

West Carleton added to the lead in the top of the seventh. With one out, Rueckwald singled. After a long flyout, Owen Brown replaced Rueckwald at first on the "two out pitcher" rule. Gabe Brown's double put men on second and third. Chris Costello's blooper to left - which was almost caught - scored both Browns to make it 3-0.
