Micksburg wins GOFL championship (details added)

The Micksburg Twins won the Greater Ottawa Fastball League playoff championship on a chilly Monday night in Shawville, winning game two of the best-of-three final series 4-3 over the Quyon Flyers.

Joran Graham had the pitching win for the Twins, while Drew Hathway threw for the Flyers.

Micksburg scored their first run in the fourth inning. Matt McIntyre hit a single, stole second and moved to third on a passed ball. Scott Conroy then walked, stole second and an errant throw allowed McIntyre to score.

Later on, a Joseph Mick solo homer put the Twins up 2-0.

Dennis McLeary walked with two out, followed by a Hathway two run homer for Quyon in bottom of the sixth tied the game. Later that inning, Todd Hearty RBI single scored Steve McCord who had walked to put the Flyers up 3-2 after six complete.

In the seventh, Graham doubled with two out. Then Jared Steege hit a two-run shot to give Micksburg the 4-3 lead.

Matt Greer walked with two to put the tying runner on base in the bottom of the seventh for Quyon, but Graham induced a pop up to earn the I4C Consulting Trophy for the Twins.

Paul Griffith of the Twins accepts the I4C Consulting Cup from Adam Rueckwald, newly appointed Vice President of the GOFL.
