Twins take Game 1 of GOFL Final

The Micksburg Twins won 7-0 over the Quyon Flyers in the first game of the Greater Ottawa Fastball League best-of-three playoff final on Wednesday night in Micksburg.

Pre-game, long time umpire George Findley was honoured by the players, fans and several of his fellow officials who were on hand.

Joran Graham had the pitching win, allowing only one hit and striking out 14. Drew Hathway threw two innings and took the loss, with Matt Greer throwing in relief.

Micksburg got on the board with two in the second inning. Scott Conroy walked, then scored on John Enright's triple. Enright was cashed by a Paul Griffith single.

In the bottom of the fifth, Andy McIntyre led off with a single, and stole second. Joran Graham walked, then Jared Steege walked.  Andy McIntyre scored on a bases loaded fielder's choice by Matt McIntyre.

Cade Kuehl got Quyon's only hit of the night in the sixth, a double,  but he was stranded along with Greer who walked.

In the bottom of the sixth, the run rule was invoked when the Twins scored four to go up 7-0. Quinton Rook doubled, and scored on misplayed fly ball hit by Enright who got to second. Griffith's second RBI single of the night scored Enright. Pinch runner Ryan McIntyre got to second on a ground out. Graham's RBI double made it 6-0. Pinch runner Jason McIntyre then scored on a Jared Steege single.
