Shawville playoffs begin

The Shawville Men's Fastpitch League playoffs begun Monday night. The four-team League plays a modified double knockout bracket to determine their playoff champion. 

On Monday early, #2 Athletics beat #3 Scrappers 13-2. Luke Young was the winning pitcher. Darrell Crawford started and finished for the Scrappers with captain Blake Bramburger also pitching. Cade Kuehl had a homer and Maxime Asselin had two doubles and a triple for the A's.

The late game saw the #1 Royals defeat #4 Pontiac 3-1. Adam Rueckwald pitched for the Royals and Matt Greer for Pontiac.

That sets up next week's games on Monday August 18 when the Athletics will face the Royals for a direct trip to the Final, and Pontiac will play the Scrappers to see what team is eliminated.
