Twins finish ninth at Canadians
The Micksburg Twins finished ninth of ten teams at the Softball Canada Men’s Canadian Championship in Kitchener.
Micksburg finished pool play with one win and five losses, tied with the Waterdown Hammer. Based on Softball Canada tiebreaker rules, the teams played a game on Saturday to determine which club would advance to the playoff round.
Waterdown won the play in game 5-4 in eight innings. Reese Yantzi got the win while Joran Graham took the loss. Devon Carson had a homer for the Hammer while Adam Alexander hit one out for the Twins.
The organizing committee announced all-star selections on Saturday. Jared Steege of the Micksburg Twins was named an All-Star Infielder for the event. He hit for a .417 average with two homers and four RBIs.
Play continues at the tournament into Sunday.
