Team Easton vs. WC Electric ends in scoreless draw
After seven full innings of well pitched error-free ball, Team Easton and WC Electric ended in a 0-0 tie on Wednesday night.
Dan Konkle pitched for Team Easton allowing only two hits, striking out fourteen and walking none. Konkle struck out the side in three of the seven innings.
Bud Hanlon started for WC Electric, scattering four hits over four innings, striking out two and walking none. Brad Porter finished the final three innings, allowing only one hit, striking out five and walking none.
Easton threatened in third as Scott Marion led off with a single followed by an Al Read bunt single. Team Easton then pulled off a successful 'fake bunt / double steal' to put runners at second and third with none out. Big Bud pitched out of the jam, retiring the next three batters in succession.
Pat O'Connor led off the fifth with a triple, but was stranded there when Brad Porter struck out the next three batters in a row.
Jon Daley and Trevor Barton had the two hits for Fitzroy. Michael Cavanagh made three outstanding plays at shortstop which took away likely Easton base hits.
Al Read had two hits for Easton. Dan Konkle also had a single.
