Valley, Team 6 advance in RA League playoffs
Valley Advances to Second Round - Team Six Knocks Out Rogues
OTTAWA—The Valley Raiders defeated CBU Publishing 8-0 last night at the RA Centre. With the loss, CBU’s season comes to a close. With the win, Valley advances to face the Orléans Midget Rebels in the second round of the RA Centre playoffs.
SHUT-OUT FOR VALLEY PITCHERS
Ryan Cox started for Valley for the second time in three nights. He collected his second playoff win, his first playoff shutout in 2006. He pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing four hits and three walks. Ryan Cox gave up two singles in the sixth inning, at which point Gord Flannery replaced him. With two runners on base and one out, Flannery struck out two batters to end the threat. In the seventh inning, he retired three-straight CBU batters to preserved the shut out.
WELL-DISTRIBUTED VALLEY OFFENCE
Shortstop Chad Milne led Valley’s attack in the first inning with a leadoff triple. He later scored on an RBI single by leftfielder Brett Dugan. The scored remained 1-0 through four innings.
In the fifth inning, Stéphane Vinette delivered a pinch-hit double. Vinette scored from second on an RBI double from Milne. Tyler Cox then attempted a sacrifice bunt. An errant throw on the play made its way down the right field line, allowing Milne to score from first and Tyler Cox to hustle all the way around the bases to score.
With two out in the seventh, Valley’s offence produced again. Will Mood singled. Dugan reached base on an error. Rich Antunes delivered an RBI double. Dave Millette was hit by a pitch. Flannery hit a two-run single. And Roy Black hit his first RBI single of the playoffs.
A honourable mention goes to Milne’s “homerun” that was called foul. After the call, questions about the eyesight of much beloved umpire came into question. Shawn Moher described the hit in a morning-after email.
“That ball took a right turn about 30 feet past the inside of the corner…ten feet above the marker!!!”
Congratulations to Derrick Bulley of CBU on a well-pitched series.
Valley’s next game is next week against Orléans Midget Rebels. The game time and date is currently being negotiated.
In the other quarterfinal series at the RA Centre, Team Six eliminated the Rogues after a 2-1 victory. Jamie “Lumpy” Wilson and Chuck Musicka pitched complete games for Team Six and the Rogues, respectively. All three runs were scored in the first inning. Team 6 will advance to play the Quyon Flyers and the Rogues are eliminated.

Sorry guys the comments here were a bit nasty to stay up...I'm not saying I agree or disagree, but I want to keep it a little nicer.
PS I did think that "Brokeback Mountain-esque" was a nice turn of phrase though and plan on using it.
I guess anyone who knows Lumpy agreed with what I said about him....and opinions as strong as those are probably not suitable for this type of forum, but I will say this.....Jamie better hope that the RA League expands next year and that another bunch of guys with nowhere else to play are thrown together to form "Team 7" or perhaps "Team 8", because no matter how desperate "Team 6" was to bring him on board, they too will grow tired of his ways in the very near future.
My sympathies to all who have to deal with this guy in any way. Too bad Terry Flannery didn't finish him off back when he had the chance.

What happened between Terry and Lumpy?
Ask Lumpy that question sometime.
