Easton at the CPI Tourney in Oswego, NY

from Cory Morrison

It was a good weekend for ball in Oswego - hot and humid. Unfortunately the rain on Saturday forced the tourny to be shortened a bit.

Game 1 Easton 3 VS Glencoe Astros 0

Dan Konkle and Jeff Murphy combined for the shutout while Brad Meldrum took the loss for Glencoe. Craig Buttar was 3/4 with 2 runs scored while Dan Jessiman was 1/4 with 2Rbi

Game 2 Easton 4 VS Armour Rise (Pennsylvania) 2

Dan Konkle started for Easton and gave up 2 runs on 3 hits over 4 innings of work. Jeff Murphy came into the game with Easton down 2-1 and pitched 3 scoreless innings. Ryan Cummings took the loss for the Rise. Easton scored 3 runs in the 6th inning to erase a 2-1 deficit and take the game 4-2. Gary Manley was 2/3 3B 1B 2Rbi and a run scored while Cory Morrison was 1/3 3B Rbi and run scored. Easton was able to exact some revenge on Cummings as he was the winning pitcher on recond last year when Tavistock knocked Easton out of the ToC.

Game 3 Easton 4 VS PA Power 1

Dan Konkle got the win going 4 innings while giving up 1 run. Jeff Murphy entered in the 5th and pitched 3 scoreless innings. Russ Root took the loss for PA Power despite giving up only 3 hits. PA Power scored their line run in the 1st inning while Easton countered with 2 runs in the 2nd and two more in the 4th. Cory Morrison was 1/3 3B rbi 2 runs scored while Gary Manley was 1/2

Game 4 Easton 1 VS CPI 3

Easton suffered their lone loss on the tournament in the semifinal game despite out hitting their opponent from NY. Dan Konkle took the loss going the full 7 innings and giving up just 4 singles while Shawn Winship got the win. CPI scored two runs in the 1st on two well placed singles a walk and a pass ball. Easton was able to put runners on in every inning but were only able to cash 1 in the 6th. CPI added an insurance run in the 7th. Dave Tubman was 1/3 1B Rbi while Dan Jessiman and Gary Manley each hit a 2B.
