WC Electric holds on to defeat Team Easton 4-3

West Carleton Electric held on to defeat Team Easton 4-3 on Tuesday night in Fitzroy Harbour.

Brad Porter had the win for the Electric, coming to relieve Bud Hanlon. Dan Konkle went the distance for Team Easton.

Team Easton was short-staffed in this one, playing with the league minimum 8 players.

The home team scored in the bottom of the first. Mike Cavanagh hit a two out double and scored when Shawn Rebertz hit a two-run homer.

Team Easton drew within one in the top of the fourth when Kevin Chevrier hit an infield single that scored Chad Milne from third. Later in the inning, with men on second and third with two out, the Electric opted to have Bud Hanlon intentionally walk Randy Peck. It turned out to be a good move, as the home team escaped the inning without further damage when the next batter grounded out.

Easton went up 3-2 in the fifth. Chad Milne hit his second single of the game with one out. After Scott Marion ground out moving Milne to second, and with the Easton order coming through for the fourth time, Fitzroy made a pitching change, putting Brad Porter into the game. The first batter facing Porter, Dave Tubman, walked for the second time on the night, and both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Kevin Chevrier then dropped in a blooper to right field, scoring another two RBIs on the night for the veteran second baseman.

WC Electric answered back to regain the lead in the bottom of the fifth. Troy Wilson led things off with a line drive home run to tie the game. Then with one out, Jon Daley doubled. The next batter Trevor Barton traded places with Daley with a double of his own to put the Electric up 4-3.

The game ended 4-3 for the home team as Porter preserved the victory.
