Some comments/news:

- Weather was a bit iffy, but we got all five games in. There was a delay for lightning/rain during the 10am games but it was only about 20 minutes or so.

- The umpires took the opportunity to work on their mechanics with the three umpire system in a couple games. Congratulations to Paul Colotelo on getting an assignment to officiate at the Canadian Midget Nationals in Brantford, ON in August.

- GREAT job on the kids' clinic by the Eagles, especially by Tyler Cox. Nice to see so many GOFL players out to help with the event and over 20 kids that showed up seemed to love it. An excellent idea and one that more teams (including my own) should copy.

- Matt Greer of Quyon will be playing the Quebec representative at the Junior Nationals in Owen Sound. Congrats to Cooney and I'm sure all GOFL players wish him luck in his third crack at the Junior "natties".

- The GOFL standings are tight in several areas. While Easton looks pretty comfortable in first, both Quyon and Stittsville have a shot at finishing #1, and both have games to play against Easton. Fitzroy can finish no higher that fourth, but could potentially fall to fifth if Carp runs the table to finish the season. Manotick can finish no higher than sixth but could fall further down in the standings depending on how the make up games shake out. Looks like Greely, the Blitzos and Orleans will be battling for seventh to avoid the "one game loser leaves town" showdown between the eighth and ninth place teams.

- Once I have news on when the make up games will be played I will post here. Cross your fingers for good weather.

- Fitzroy is the only team that has completed their season. Given the likely two week make up schedule, followed by the ISC ToC week, that could be three weeks off for the 'Trics. However, they will fill the gap somewhat with an exhibition game on Sunday August 3 up in Chapeau against the Quyon Flyers as part of the summer festival up there. Lenny Burger has invited both teams up and it should be a great time. More info on that later.

Special bonus feature:

- So I do a quick Google search on "Chapeau Quebec". It comes up with a YouTube video - for those of you that have been on a Pontiac road tour to "Fred's" in Chapeau, you will appreciate this. I've had a steak there...anyone else? ("Try the steak!").
