Blitz and I4C tie at 5 - UPDATED

In GOFL action on Wednesday night, in the first of the doubleheader in Manotick, the Ottawa Blitz (0-1-2) scored three in the seventh inning to earn a 5-5 tie with Carp I4C Victory (1-1-1).

Blitz Rally for 3 to tie Carp I4C Victory

For the second time in three games the Blitz rallied from behind in their final at bat to salvage a point.

The Blitz opened the scoring in the bottom of the second on a leadoff walk to Jon Ferguson and an RBI single from Derek Martin.

Carp responded in the top of the third and pushed a run across on singles from the bats of Dan Rollin, Al Read and Dan Konkle.

In the bottom of the third Andrew Bruce singled with one out and was advanced to third on two wild pitches and later scored on an RBI single from Ron Hrycak, putting the Blitz up 2-1.

Carp broke things open in the 5th inning when Todd Storms hit a 2-out triple to right centre field cashing Kevin McGuire and Dan Konkle. Storms was then scored on a single by Brooks Paziuk, putting Carp up 4-2 after 5 innings.

Al read added some insurance for Carp in the top of 7. Read led off with a single, followed by a double by Kevin McGuire and a walk to Dan Konkle to load the bases with no one out. Derick Bulley entered the game to replace Jamie Blakely on the mound for the Blitz. Bulley surrendered a 1-out sac fly to left field before closing the inning with his second strike out. Carp up 5-2.

The Blitz started their rally in the bottom of the 7th with a leadoff double by Russ Mitchell. With one away Tony Searle and Andrew Bruce both singled, closing the gap to 5-3, followed by 3 two-out walks to score the tying run. Dan Konkle was able to stop the Blitz rally with the bases loaded and the go-ahead run on third base, ending the game in a 5-5 tie.
