The Barrhaven Broadway Blues got their first win of the season in North Gower on Tuesday night with a 6-3 win over the Kars Aces in GOFL action.
Trevor Lahey had the win, while Brad Porter took the loss with four innings of scoreless relief from Cory Alkerton.
For Barrhaven in the second inning, Tony Macdonald walked, Trevor Power hit a bunt single. After two strikeouts, Jordan Adams hit a three run homer to right centre field.
In the top of the 3rd inning, Aaron Amo singled, advanced to second on a passed ball and moved to 3rd on ground out. After a strikeout, MacDonald singled to score Amo. Power was the next batter and hit a two run homer to right field to put the Blues up 6-0.
Kars got on the board in the third. Matt Pollard led off with a single. After a strikeout, both Danny Powers and Kristian Knapp singled to load the bases. After another strikeout, Corey Alkerton worked a walk to score Pollard. Chad Milne and Trevor Lahey then battled in a long 10-pitch at bat that ended in a walk for Milne and scored Powers. Barrhaven got out of the inning without further damage when Cory Morrison hit a sharp ground ball that was knocked down by the 2nd baseman and thrown to first in time for the out.
Trailing 6-2 in the 7th, Kars scored another run on a Powers' single and a Nick Ellis double off the fence in centre. That's as close as Kars could get as with two outs, Lahey induced a groundball from Alkerton that ended the game.
Jordan Adams of the Blues had a three run homer to earn the Caveman's Choice honours as player of the game.
