Wednesday night results from Manotick - DETAILS NOW ADDED

There were three Greater Ottawa Fastball League games in Manotick on Wednesday night.

I4C Victory 4 Kanata Pirates 2
Andrew Putnam earned the win while Trevor Lahey took the loss as I4C Victory defeated the Pirates 4-2.

Kars Aces 6 Stittsville 56ers 1
Cory Alkerton earned the win for Kars, while Darren Featherstone took the loss as the Aces won over the 56ers 6-1.

info from Chad Milne
Kars jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st. Knapp was hit by a pitch to start the inning and was brought home by a Nick Ellis double. Cory Morrison followed with single to score Ellis. Featherstone was able to get out of the inning without further damage by striking out the next three batters.

Kars threatened to add to their lead in the 3rd when Kristian Knapp singled and Ellis walked to start the inning, but again Featherstone got the next three batters in order, two by strike out.

Kars finally broke through in the 4th inning, scoring 4 times courtesy of a Kurtis Summers' rbi double and an Ellis' 3-run homer to centre field.

Stittsville broke Alkerton's shut-out bid in the top of the 7th, scoring 1 run.

I4C Victory 3 Kars Aces 1
In the late game, I4C Victory edged Kars 3-1. Neil Cooke had the win and Brad Porter was the losing pitcher in relief of Cory Alkerton.

info from Chad Milne
In the back-end of a double-header for both teams, I4C edged Kars 3-1.

In the top of the 1st with one out, Kevin McGuire tripled to the gap in right-centre and then scored when the relay throw bounced away from the Kars 3rd baseman following a small collision with a sliding McGuire.

Kars evened the score in the bottom of the 2nd. Chad Milne led off with a triple to the gap in left-centre and Danny Powers walked. With one out, Matt Alkerton pushed a bunt to the first base side that was fielded by Cooke, but a hard-charging Milne was able to beat Cooke's throw to the plate.

I4C regained the lead in the 4th when with two out, McGuire stroked a 2-run single to right field.

Kars came close to getting a run back in the 5th. Kurtis Summers reached base on an error and stole second. With two out, Nick Ellis hit what looked like a single to the hole at short, but the I4C shortstop flagged it down and made a strong throw to get the speedy Ellis on a very close play at first base.

Kars came up short again in the 6th when Cory Morrison tripled to lead off the inning, but could not score as Cooke was able to retire the next three batters in order.

In the bottom of the 7th, Summers singled and Kristian Knapp walked with two out. Ellis looked to get Kars back in the game when again he hit a ball to deep short that was fielded by the I4C shortstop who gunned Ellis down at first on an even closer play to end the game.
