GOFL Week #13
The Greater Ottawa Fastball League week thirteen is a make up week for games that were postponed for various reasons. There are seven games to be played before the final standings are finalized and the first round playoff matchups known. Standings are very tight and there are several possible placings.
On Tuesday, West Carleton Electric (7-8-1) will host I4C Victory (6-9) in doubleheader in Fitzroy Harbour at 7 pm and 9 pm. Also that night Micksburg Twins (7-8-1) will face the Stittsville 56ers (7-5-4) at 8:30 pm in a game that will be played in Carp.
The Wednesday night doubleheader in Manotick sees Kanata Pirates (8-7-1) in for two games - 7 pm against I4C Victory and 9 pm against Kars Aces (7-9). Quyon Flyers (10-6-1) will also be looking to clinch first place against Stittsville at the grove at 8:30 pm.
The final game of the season is scheduled to be up in Micksburg where the Twins will host Kars at 8 pm.
Playoff format: The first place team will get a bye and the remaining six teams (2nd vs 7th, 3rd vs 6th, 4th vs 5th) will play a best-of-five playoff series. The series will begin the week of August 18, after the conclusion of the ISC World Tournament, at which several GOFLers will be participating.
The four remaining teams will then play in a double knockout tournament Final Weekend Showdown on Friday September 12 and Saturday September 13 in Stittsville.
