Electric defeat 56ers 6-1

West Carleton Electric defeated Stittsville 56ers 6-1 at the Grove in Greater Ottawa Fastball League play on Wednesday night.

Andy Barber went the distance for WC to take the win, while Kyle Olsen took the loss.

The Electric scored two runs in each of the first, second and third innings.

Kevin Shonfield lead off with a single in the first, stole second, and took third on a wild pitch. After a strike out, he attempted to take home on Jeff Cavanagh's grounder, but 56er's shortstop Adam Smith made a nice play to erase him at the plate. Derek Barber then reached on a misplayed ground to put two on base. Steve Cavanagh's single scored both men to make it 2-0.

The Electric plated another two in the second. Shawn Rebertz hit a solo homer as the first hitter of the frame. Adam Brown reached on an error, advanced to second on Andy Barber's bunt single, and scored on Jeff Cavanagh's RBI single.

West Carleton pushed the lead to 6-0 in the third when Rebertz homered again, scoring Neil Murphy who had doubled.

Stittsville's only run came in the bottom of the fifth on a Mike Barrett solo shot.
