Kanata Storm finish 2-2 at the ISC World Tournament, 1-2 at ISC II tournament
Kanata Storm results at the International Softball Congress World Tournament in South Bend, Indiana.
The Storm opened up Saturday afternoon with a 8-6 win over the Bedford Rays from Reading, Pennsylvania. Mike Noftall earned the win and had relief from Joran Graham and Corey Costello. Duane Weiler was the losing pitcher. Kyle Ezekiel and Matt Greer had home runs for the Storm.
Next up on Sunday afternoon was an 8-2 loss to the Toronto Gators. The game was 5-2 going into the sixth. Sean Cleary had the win and Kyle Linton threw an inning of relief. Corey Costello took the loss for Kanata and Mike Noftall saw action in relief. Ezekiel was 3 for 3 for the Storm with an RBI and a run scored. Wayne Laulu, Tyson Byrne and Shane Boland all had homers for the Gators.
Monday morning saw the Storm defeat Ochapowace Cree Nation Chetty's Pretty Boys from Saskatchewan 10-0 in run-rule shortened game. Joran Graham had the win, allowing only one hit and one walk. The Storm had homes from Ezekiel, Greer and Ryan Kirk.
The fourth game for the Storm was a 4-2 against Delisle, SK Diamond Dogs. Bryan Newton got the win. Mike Noftall took the loss with relief from Joran Graham. The Storm moved to the ISC II bracket.
In the first game of the ISC II draw, the Storm defeated SME Threshers from Fargo, North Dakota 9-3. Ryan Kirk hit a homer in a pinch hit appearance for the Storm. Joran Graham had the win while Kevin Kameuller took the loss.
The second match up in ISC II was against Tin Cup from Minnesota. After going down 5-0, the Storm came back in the top of the seventh to go ahead 6-5 but Tin Cup hit two solo shots in the bottom of the inning to beat the Storm 7-6. Mike Noftall was the losing pitcher in relief of Cory Alkerton. Winning pitcher was Nicolas Siebenlist in relief of Joel Cooley.
Storm were beat out of the ISC II tournament with a 10-5 loss to Waterdown Hammer from southern Ontario. Tim Neill was the winning pitcher and had relief from Tim Yantzi. Corey Costello had the start for Kanata and Joran Graham took the loss in relief. Darren Featherstone also pitched in relief.
The Kingston Axemen won their first World Tournament game 3-2 against the Lloydminister Dodgers from Saskatchewan. They lost their second game 3-2 to the Kitchener Hallman Twins and lost 6-0 to Page Brake from Utah. They also went to "The Twos". Axemen won their won their first game 4-2 against the Great Lakes Mariners from Michigan and their second 12-4 against Cal State Builders of Washington. They lost Wednesday night to Wiarton Nationals 3-2 in extra innings. They can finish no lower than third at the ISC II Tournament.
