Carp Shootout this weekend

The Carp Shootout is this weekend at the Fairgrounds, starting on Friday night at 7 p.m. with the final scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sunday. (Full schedule below.)

Last year's champs Micksburg Twins will be there to defend their title. They always bring lots of fans to the park and ensure the beer tent is well attended.

There are two teams from other provinces. Last year's finalists, the East Hants, NS Mastodons are back as well as the provincial U20 team from Quebec.

There is a local team made up of Greater Ottawa Fastball League players from four different teams who are sponsored by Ottawa Valley Grain Products who will have some sweet retro uniforms.

Los Caballos, a local team of players from Latin backgrounds playing as a GOFL affiliate member team, are in too. They will bring lots of flair and have brought in high end pitching for the weekend.

The Kingston Axemen, a team with several players from the GOFL's Kars Aces, are back again this year, as well as two teams from Napanee: the U17s who won the Ontario Amateur Softball Association Eliminations title a few weeks back as well as the U20s who will defending champions at the Canadian Championship in Carp in August.

There will a beer garden all weekend as well as a BBQ, which will be staffed on Saturday by players and parents from the West Carleton Electric U20 team, host team of the Canadian Championship later this summer.
