OASA U23 and U17 events

The Ontario Amateur Softball Association Elimination tournaments for the U23 and U17 level were played this weekend. 

Tavistock Merchants won four straight games to take the U23 title on their home diamond. They will look to "threepeat" at the Canadian Championship in Kitchener next month. Jack Becker of the Manotick Brewers of the Greater Ottawa Fastball League was on the Merchants. Joe Mick (Micksburg Twins) and Tyler Branchaud (Manotick Brewers) earned bronze with the Wiarton Red Devils who finished with two wins and two losses. They will also play at Canadians.

At the U17 event, the Napanee Express won four in a row to take the crown. They will be off to the U17 Canadian Championship in St Gervais, QC in August. Finn Barton, Bryce Rebertz and Colton Lecuyer of the Fitzroy Harbour Men's Fastball League's West Carleton Rona U17 team (and spare with West Carleton Electric in the GOFL) won gold with the Express. Amherstview Athletics finished with a win and a loss at U17 Elims. The As have several area players who participate in the Glen Cairn Men's Fastball League as well as the Fitzroy and Shawville leagues, and spare too with Kars in the GOFL.
