Bytown Belles win in Saugeen (Details added)

The Bytown Belles women's softball team of Ottawa repeated as the Saugeen Showdown champions this past weekend.

On Friday night the Belles beat the Base Invaders 6-5 and the winning pitcher was Bella Ferguson with 4 Ks. Jessie Cameron was 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and Steph Bouchey was 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs. 

On Saturday the Belles came back from behind to beat Chief’s Point 6-5. Andrea Dakin got the win on the mound. Alika Kingsbury (2024 tournament MVP) was 2 for 3 with a 3-run homerun and Kaitlyn Sinclair was 2 for 3. 

On Saturday night in the winner-winner game to advance to the finals the Belles made several first inning errors to eventually lose 11-1 to the CMO Chaos. 

On Sunday in the semifinal game the Belles beat Hopeville 9-2 to advance to the finals. Hopeville had local Ottawa area athletes Justine Styles and Kate Parks. They were 5-2 on the weekend coming around the long way after losing their first game. Kaitlyn Sinclair earned the win on the mound for the Belles with only 1 earned run and 6ks. Alika Kingsbury was 2 for 3 with a homerun, Kaitlyn Flear was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored, Gwen Woodsit was 2 for 3 and Steph Bouchey was 1 for 2 with 2 RBIs. 

The finals was a rematch of Saturday night against CMO. The Belles came from behind to win 5-3 and repeat as tournament champions. Kaitlyn Sinclair got the win with 4ks. Gwen Woodsit had a solo homerun, Alika Kingsbury was 2 for 3 and Steph Bouchey was 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. 

Kaitlyn Sinclair was once again named the Top Pitcher of the tournament after pitching 13 innings on Sunday and giving up only 4 earned runs. 

Steph Bouchey was named tournament Most Valuable Player going 6 for 9 in the tournament with 4 bunt singles, a double, and 6 RBIs.
