Quyon downs Orleans 4-0
Quyon 4 Orleans 0
from Shawn Laframboise
The big question mark all day long was the weather, and with pouring rain up until 20 minutes before game time it didn't look good. However the rain stopped, and aside from a light drizzle in the later innings, it proved to be a good night for ball. Drew Hathway got the nod for Quyon while Orleans countered with Nick Bowman.
Hathway pitched the first 4 innings and got credit for the win, and Matt Greer came in to close things up, throwing the final three. Bowman pitched all six for the Gators in a losing effort.
Quyon got things going in the bottom of the second inning. Matt Greer walked to lead things off, and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Jordan Kearns cashed in the games first run with an RBI double down the left field line.
In the top of the third, Jordan Adams led off with a walk. In an attempt to push a bunt through the shallow infield, Nick Bowman popped it up to short and Greer doubled off Adams at first.
The Flyers were back at it in the bottom of the third, with Dennis McCleary leading things off with a single up the middle. McCleary was advanced to second on a sac bunt from Shawn Laframboise, and then took third on a pass ball. He would score on a ground ball to second base from older brother Joe.
Joel Langford and Matt Bowman had the only two hits for Orleans. Quyon would add two more to go up 4-0, and hold on for the win. Because of next Tuesday's game between Easton and Quyon being rescheduled to July 18th, the Flyers next league game isn't until the 8th of July. Orleans will host Manotick on Thursday night.
