Kars Aces staked out a 11-2 lead over the Ottawa Blitz in the first game of the doubleheader in Manotick on Wednesday night and held off a comeback to get the 11-8 win.
Brad Porter got the win allowing 7 runs over 4 innings while Cory Alkerton picked up the save allowing 1 run over 3 innings. Derick Bulley took the loss getting tagged for 8 runs over 3 while Will Mood gave up 3 runs over 4 in relief.
Chad Milne, Cory Morrison and Kristian Knapp (inside the park) homered for Kars. The Aces also turned a rare 5-3-5 triple play.

Kars top Blitz in first half of double dip in Manotick
The Blitz opened the scoring in the bottom of 1 as Andrew Bruce walked, stole second then scored as the throw to the bag ended up in shallow left. Kars responded with 6 runs in the top of the 2nd. Chad Milne and Cory Morrison hit back to back homerun's then singles by Andy Davey, Curtis Summers, Scott Marion followed by a 3 run inside the park homer by Kristian Knapp put the visitors up 6-1. After the Blitz made it 6-2 Kars added two more runs as Milne and Morrison walked then were plated by singles off the bats of Davey and Summers. In the 4th Will Mood replaced Derek Bulley on the mound and Kevin Chevrier singled, Dave Tubman was HBP, Chad Milne Tripled, then Cory Morrison singled to put Kars up 11-2. The Blitz chased Kars starter Brad Porter in their half of the 4th by scoring 5 runs to put the score at 11-7. Cory Alkerton pitched the last 3 innings giving up 1 run to earn the save. Final score was Kars 11 Blitz 8.
