News from the Cornwall League

from www.standard-freeholder.com

Looks like they have four teams again this year in the Cornwall League:

O'Neill shines with bat

Brian O'Neill went 4-4 with a homerun, five RBI and two runs scored to lead O'Neill Taping & Painting to a 16-2 beating of Bojangles on opening night for the Cornwall and District Men's Fastball League.

O'Neill finished a triple short of the cycle.

Jack Chisholm picked up the complete-game, five-hit victory while also scoring three runs and adding an RBI.

Darryl Beck, Bryan Lamarche, Thorin Gault and Richard Francis scored two runs each while Trevor Shayler, Benoit Brunet and Shea Alguire each counted once. Shayler (with two), Chisolm, Beck, Francis and Lorne Taillon had RBIs.

Kevin Wheeler went 2-3 with one of the runs for Bojangles. Scott Guppy also scored while Cass Massia picked up an RBI. Jamie Lapensee was tagged with the loss.

* Steve McGillis pitched a complete-game, four-hitter as Navy Club shaded Yum Yum Chips 3-2.

McGillis had 12 strikeouts. Randy McGillis paced Navy's offence, going 2-3 with an RBI. Kevin Williams, Scott Rogers and David Murphy scored while Chad Samson added an RBI.

Brian Tardiff went 2-4 with two doubles and an RBI to lead Yum Yum. Tom Hutchingame scored both runs while Jim Martell had an RBI.

Pete Marion suffered the loss.

Games resume tonight at King George Park with Yum Yum hosting O'Neill Taping & Painting (6:15 p.m.) and Bojangles getting home field advantage against Navy Club (8:15 p.m.).
