MAYNARD -- The first-year Maynard team has a win in its opening game of the North Leeds Fastball League.
The Maynard Dukes downed the Smiths Falls Redmen 11-4 last week.
Billy Gerber scattered six hits and struck out 17 batters in the pitching win. Andrew Wiggins allowed 10 hits in the loss.
Ted Kimmett, Joe Murray and Hugh Murray had two hits each for Maynard.
Tyler Hughes hit a home run among his two hits for Smiths Falls while Wiggins also had two hits.
Maynard will host Easton Corners on Thursday May 27 at 8:15 p.m.
