Quyon 6 Carp 0 - WITH DETAILS

from Shawn Laframboise

COMBAT Flyers best I4C Victory 6-0

On a warm evening in May, the Quyon COMBAT Flyers won in front of the home crowd by a score of 6-0 in five innings over the Carp I4C Victory.

Drew Hathway toed the rubber for the Flyers, while I4C countered with Kyle Olsen. Hathway was credited with the win, throwing five innings of perfect ball, allowing no Victory base runners, and striking out six.

Quyon got on the board early on in the bottom of the first inning. With one out, Shawn Laframboise hit the 1-1 offering to deep left-centre, off of the light standard to give the home team a 1-0 advantage..

The score stayed the same until the bottom half of the third inning, when Laframboise reached 1st with a two-out single, and advanced to second on a fielding error. He would then score on a Joe McCleary RBI single. Up next, Matt Greer regained his team HR lead with an opposite field blast, plating the third and fourth runs of the game.

Hathway continued to work fast and effectively, retiring the side on 5 pitches in the fourth.

Also in the fourth, Greer moved from his SS position and moved out to the outfield, relieving Steve McCord of his duties for the night. This brought in Nick Armitage and he took over at short for Greer.

Carp made a pitching change in the fourth, bringing in Dan Konkle to relieve Olsen. After escaping the fourth unscathed, DK surrendered a full swinging bunt to Hathway, and he used his wheels to reach first base despite a good effort from the I4C catcher to bare hand the ball and almost make the play. Armitage was up next, replacing McCord, and he scorched a two-run shot to leftfield, ending the game by way of the mercy rule.
