Minor ball update

In other news, Fitzroy Junior's Mites team advanced to championship Saturday with a 19-18 playoff win over Kinburn tonight. Junior struggled a bit pitching, having trouble finding the plate (nerves for the big game?) but was a solid two for three at the dish.

It went down to the bottom of the fifth and final inning tied at 18 but ended somewhat anticlimatically on a bases loaded walk to end the game in favour of the Harbour.

Fitzroy is looking to avenge last year's loss in the finals to Carp to take the West Carleton mites title on Saturday afternoon.

The Caveman finished things off this past Saturday as the 5-pitch season wrapped up in Carp with a 9 team fun day. They don't keep score at this level (officially) but the Fitzroy 1 Atoms coached by Mrs Fastball did very well, and in their final game, after a refreshing dip in the splashpad, the Caveman made a rarely seen 6-3 putout on a ground ball against Carp. Not too often you see a 7 year old whip it cross diamond from short for the out!

Following the Atom games, the West Carleton Mite Boys Select team (featuring Fitzroy Jr) played the McNab Boys Select team in a very tight and well played game that ended 4-3 in favour of the McNab side. A very well played game, great to watch young lads playing such a high level of ball.

Just a reminder, if you know of any Mites Boys Select teams looking for a game, please contact me at fastball[at]fitzroyharbour.com.
