Pitchers' duel in Micksburg results in 0-0 tie
Stittsville 56ers 0 Micksburg Twins 0
In a classic pitchers' duel in Greater Ottawa Fastball League play in Micksburg on Thursday night the Twins and 56ers finished in a 0-0 tie. This game was also the first of a planned three to be broadcast on Cogeco Cable TV in the Pembroke area.
TV viewers and fans on hand got to see Dan Konkle throw a one-hitter for Stittsville, while Corey Costello chucked a two-hitter for Micksburg. Konkle struck out 14, while Costello rang up 18 ks.
The only hits were a bunt single by Jamey Mick for the home team and hits by Tyler Nystedt and Scott Parsons for the 56ers.
The Caveman can't choose between the pitchers in this one, so both Konks and Cozzy get the nod as co-players of the game, based on their performances which hearken back to 2004 or so when these kinds of games were common between these two hurlers.
