West Carleton beats I4C Victory 2-0 in close, rainy game

In a well played game that was completed quickly despite some rainy weather, West Carleton Electric defeated I4C Victory in the opener in Manotick on Wednesday night.

Andy Barber threw very well, with a two hitter to earn the win. Neil Cooke also had a good game for I4C allowing only six hits.

Neither team really threatened to score until the top of the sixth. With one out, Trevor Barton singled with a bunt and was moved to second by Andy Barber's sacrifice bunt. Michael Cavanagh's RBI single put Fitzroy on the board.

In the seventh, the Electric put up an insurance run. Jeff Cavanagh singled to start things off. Jon Daley then singled as well. Neil Murphy's single scored JCav to make it 2-0.

I4C was limited to only three baserunners all game, with only runner advancing to second, as Barber threw well.

With a 2 for 3 night at the plate, the game winning RBI and some good defensive play, Michael Cavanagh gets the nod as Caveman's Choice for player of the game.
