Quyon sweeps DH in Carp
The Quyon Flyers swept their Greater Ottawa Fastball League doubleheader in Carp on Thursday night versus the Ottawa Valley As.
The early game had the Flyers winning 12-3 over the As. Trevor Lahey earned the win and had relief from Matt Greer. Adam Rueckwald took the loss while getting relief from Todd "Willy White Shoes" Wilson. Both Greer and Reuckwald hit homers for their respective teams, and Steve McCord also hit one out for the Flyers.
The night cap was a 7-0 win for Quyon. Lahey had the win in this game as well, while Cole Ross took the loss in his GOFL pitching debut, with relief from the veteran Wilson. Cade Kuehl, 15 year old rookie for the Flyers, who also plays for the U15 Stittsville 56ers club, had his first ever GOFL hit in this game.
Cade's dad Al has made the blog before - you can check out this story from 2006 from the defunct Upper Ottawa Valley Men's Fastball League playoffs where he is referred to as an "RBI specialist" and interviewed post game. However, after a thorough search of the GOFL's archives, it is believed this is first Kuehl family hit in league history. UPDATE: If the GOFL / UOVMFL crossover games from the early 2000s count then perhaps it's not the first Kuehl hit.
