Wednesday night results in the GOFL and playoff scenarios (with more details)

I4CVictory 3 Kanata Pirates 1
I4C Victory closed out their regular season with a win Wednesday night in first of two Greater Ottawa Fastball League games in Manotick.

Victory won 3-1 over the Kanata Pirates. Andrew Putnam (4IP 1H 10K) had the win and Neil Cooke (3IP 1H 4K) earned a save. Jason Smith (6IP 5H 12K 7BB) took the loss.

Quyon Flyers 10 Stittsville 56ers 7
Quyon clinched first overall in the GOFL with a win at the Grove in Stittsville. Matt Greer had the win and Darren Featherstone took the loss.

Kars Aces 7 Kanata Pirates 5
Kars defeated the Pirates in the late game in Manotick. Brad Porter got the win, while Derick Bulley had the loss with relief from Trevor Lahey. Kristian Knapp was 4 for 4 with 4 RBIs for the Aces.

Standings update as of end of day Wednesday:

1. Quyon Flyers 11-6-1 = 23 pts
2. Stittsville 56ers 8-6-4 = 20 pts
3. West Carleton Electric 9-8-1 = 19 pts
4. Kanata Pirates 8-9-1 = 17 pts
5. Kars Aces 8-9-0 = 16 pts (1 game remaining vs Micksburg)
6. Micksburg Twins 7-9-1 = 15 pts (1 game remaining vs Kars)
7. I4C Victory 7-11-0 = 14 pts

Playoff situation:
  • Quyon earns the bye to the Final Weekend Showdown.
  • Stittsville finishes second and will play I4C Victory (7th seed) in a best-of-five series.
  • The other two best-of-five series are to be determined based on the Thursday game.
  • West Carleton finishes third.
  • Kanata finishes fourth or fifth, depending on what happens in the Thursday game.
  • If Micksburg wins Thursday, Kanata would be fourth and play Micksburg as fifth seed (based on head to head), and West Carleton would play Kars as sixth seed.
  • If Kars wins Thursday, Kanata would be fifth and play Kars as fourth seed, and West Carleton would play Micksburg as sixth seed.
  • If Kars and Micksburg tie, Kanata would get fourth seed and play Kars as fifth seed (based on head to head), and West Carleton would play Micksburg as sixth seed.
