West Carleton Electric wins both games in doubleheader against I4C Victory
West Carleton Electric won both games in doubleheader in Greater Ottawa Fastball League play in Fitzroy Harbour on Tuesday night.
West Carleton Electric 6 I4C Victory 1
In the first game of the evening, the home side scored six runs in the first three innings to hang on for a 6-1 win. Andy Barber had the win while Neil Cooke took the loss.
The Electric scored two in the first innning. Trevor Barton lead of with a single and advanced to third on Michael Cavanagh's double. Derek Barber's single cashed both runs.
West Carleton moved the lead to 5-0 in the second inning. Steve Cavanagh started the inning with a single. After a pop out and a strike out, Barton reached on an error. Jeff Barber's three run shot put the 'Trics up five.
The home team extended the lead by one more in the third as Derek Barber hit a solo shot to make it 6-0.
I4C got a single in the top of the fourth. Mike Money singled and Andrew Putnam brought him in to make it 6-1.
The visitors looked like they may make some noise in the top of the seventh - they loaded the bases on a Curtis Scurr walk, a single by Kevin McGuire and passed ball third strike to Shawn Simzer. However, Barber got out the jam with a strikeout to end the game.

In the nightcap, the Electric once again prevailed, this time with a 3-1 win. Andy Barber once again had the complete game win for Fitzroy, while Andrew Putnam took the loss. Both pitchers only allowed four hits.
West Carleton put two across in the first inning. Trevor Barton walked to lead things off, and moved to third on two wild pitches. Michael Cavanagh was then hit by a pitch, and took second uncontested. Derek Barber's off hard double down the line scored both runners to make it 2-0.
It looked like I4C may generate a run in the third. With two out, Kevin McGuire singled. Mike Money then drove a hard hit ball to centre. When McGuire attempted to take third, he was thrown out by centrefielder Jeff Barber to end the inning.
The Electric got an insurance run in the fourth. Steve Cavanagh lead off with a slap single, and moved to third on two wild pitches. After two strikeouts, Putnam got a third K - but the pitch was dropped and throw to first off line allowing the SCav to score.
I4C managed a run in the seventh when Neil Cooke (who had singled) scored on Don Cox's RBI single.
