ISC World Tournament - Monday

A brief round up of eastern Ontario teams at the International Softball Congress World Tournament in Kitchener.

Sweaburg Crush 2 Ottawa Broker4Tickets 0
At 10 am, Broker4Tickets lost a close one to Sweaburg. The Crush scored a run on a wild pitch in the first inning and added an insurance run in the seventh. Lefty Todd Winkworth got the win and Joran Graham took the loss. This second loss put Ottawa into the ISC II bracket with a game early Tuesday morning against the Tavistock Merchants.

Kanata Storm 7 Napanee Merchants Express 5
In what perhaps was not the best defensively executed game at the ISC World Tournament, the Storm prevailed 7-5 over Napanee. Darren Featherstone had the complete game win, while Ian Wallwork took the loss and had relief from Jordan Macdonald. Derick Bulley and Shawn Laframboise had home runs for the Storm. A second loss dropped Napanee to the ISC II bracket for an early Tuesday game against the Wellington Sox.

Kanata Storm 4 Toronto Batmen 3
The Storm's winning ways continued on Monday. After a brief rain delay, their game against the Batmen did not get off to a good start as they gave up three runs in the first. However, those were the only runs that Jeff Barber allowed in getting the win for Kanata. Ryan Swift took the loss with relief from Luke Leahy. Shawn Laframboise had another home run for the Storm in this game. This win for Kanata means they stay in the ISC World bracket with their next game on Tuesday afternoon (likely at 3 pm with the rain delay) against the loser of the Scarborough Force vs Kitchener Cubs. That game was to be played Monday night but the heavy rain deferred it to Tuesday morning.
