info from Jamie Mayo
There is a new "half whip" fastpitch league running in Low, QC this spring. There will be six teams: Danford Lakers, Rupert, Kazabazua, Venosta, Brennans Hill and Maniwaki. The schedule calls for three games every Friday night at the Gatineau Valley Arena diamond in Low. "Half whip" / orthodox softball was popular years ago - it's not full windmill pitching softball but it's not slowpitch either.
Randy and John Peck, former players in the Greater Ottawa Fastball League are involved with Danford. Organizers, including Scott Mahoney, are hoping to try and bring back the popularity of men's softball in the Gatineau Valley.
