Twins beats Aces...on TV

The Micksburg Twins beat the Kars Aces 3-0 on Friday night in the 'Burg in a game covered by the local Cogeco affiliate.

A good crowd was on hand to see Joran Graham pitch the complete game win, allowing only two hits and striking out 14. Brad Porter took the loss and had relief from Gregg Garrity. 

Connor Moss (2) and Jared Steege batted in the runs for the Twins.

Brewers and Electric win on Thursday in Carp

The Greater Ottawa Fastball League doubleheader in Carp on Thursday saw Manotick and West Carleton earn wins.

The early game result was 7-2 for the Manotick Brewers over the Ottawa Valley As. Adam Smith earned the win, and Ben Broek took the loss with an inning of relief from Adam Rueckwald. Sean Lecuyer hit a home run for Valley while Luc D'Entremont put one over the fence into the outdoor rink for the Brewers.

The night cap saw West Carleton Electric get out to a 8-0 lead over the Orleans Rebels after two innings and hold on for an 8-5 win. Cory Baldwin earned his first win for WC on the slab with Trevor Lahey getting the save. Jeff Barber was the losing pitcher, with Andy Barber throwing in relief. Matt Greer hit one out for the Electric as did Manuel Luna for the Rebels.

ISC tournament starts August 14

The International Softball Congress World Tournament and Legends Tournament are a go for this year in Quad Cities, with 22 teams in the WT and 8 in the Legends.

Kingston Axemen to host event August 14-15

The Kingston Axemen are looking to host a men's fastpitch event on August 14-15 in Inverary, just north of Kingston. Word is that they may have four teams committed but will take up to six. 

The format and fee will be determined based on the number of teams finalized but they will guarantee three games.

GOFL Week 3

The Greater Ottawa Fastball League third week features the three games.

Thursday night sees the Manotick Brewers and Ottawa Valley As play at 7 pm and West Carleton Electric faces Orleans Rebels at 9 pm for the Carp doubleheader.

There is a Friday night matchup in Micksburg at 8 pm with the Twins hosting the Kars Aces. This matchup will be broadcast the local Cogeco TV affiliate in Pembroke.

North Leeds league returns

The North Leeds Men's Fastball League is returning after Covid hiatus. The league is operating with six teams in a shortened seven game season followed by two playoff rounds. Top two teams from each division make playoffs.

Brewers best Rebels

The Manotick Brewers defeated the Orleans Rebels 6-2 in Greater Ottawa Fastball League action on Friday night at Pierre Rocque Park in Orleans.

Adam Smith earned the complete game win and notched eight strikeouts. Jeff Barber, who also hit a homer, took the loss for the Rebels and had relief from brother Andy.

Twins, Aces win in Thursday

The Greater Ottawa Fastball League doubleheader on Thursday in Carp saw the Micksburg Twins and Kars Aces emerge victorious .

The early game saw the Twins defeat the Ottawa Valley As 6-1. Joran Graham earned the win for Micksburg with relief from Noah Fleurie. Adam Rueckwald took the loss and had relief from Ben Broek. Cousins Andy and Matt McIntyre hit home runs for Micksburg. 

The second game had Kars defeat West Carleton Electric 14-3 in a five-inning run rule game. Brad Porter took the win while Steve Cavanagh was the loser with relief from Matt Greer. Brad Pender continued with his hot hitting, putting two homers out for Kars, and Cory Alkerton also homered. Neil Murphy and Greer batted in the WC runs via homers.

Harbour Ball is back

Fitzroy Harbour Men's Fastball League is back after a year off.

The 2021 season starts July 28 and games will be played at 7 pm and 9 pm every Wednesday until the fall.

There are four men's teams sponsored by Bren Electric, Anderson Automotive, Murphy’s Plumbing and Campbell Fuels and a youth team, West Carleton Electric Juniors.

Niagara Falls looking at hosting a men's fastball tournament in September

Niagara Falls is hoping to get at least one men's softball tournament in this summer and are hoping to do so over the September 10-12 weekend. West Carleton Jr Electric to play at OASA Elimination tournament

The Ontario Amateur Softball Association will be hosting a 13 team Elimination tournament at the U16 level in Cambridge from July 30 - August 1. Draw is posted here: www.oasa.ca.

West Carleton Jr. Electric (Caveman's team) will be participating in the event. Westport and Napanee are other Eastern Ontario teams entered.

The Junior Trics have played five exhibition games so far, winning two and losing three.

In those five games, four members of the team have now hit their first career homers - congrats to Conner Hopper (now with two HRs), Jack Armstrong, Joshua Langford, and Zach Branchaud.

Quyon comes back to beat Micksburg at Showcase

The first game at the Shawville men's fastpitch showcase on Friday night saw the Quyon Flyers come back to defeat the Micksburg Twins 5-4 in front of about 80 fans.

Gregg Garrity went the distance for Quyon. Matt Greer had a double, a homer and four RBIs for the Flyers.

Adam Rueckwald threw four scoreless for Micksburg and 16-year old Noah Fleurie finished the game for the Twins.

The second game of the night, attended by many more mosquitoes than fans, saw the Flyers defeat the Kingston Axemen 7-4. Trevor Lahey threw for the Flyers and Clayton Robinson and Jordan Macdonald pitched for the Axemen. Brad Pender hit one out for Kingston.

Seven more games are on tap at the Shawville R.A. on Saturday, with action starting at 9:30 a.m. The Quebec provincial Canada Games team will be playing as well as the Napanee U19 Express.

As win on Thursday, game 2 rained out

The Ottawa Valley As won their first Greater Ottawa Fastball League game of the season on Thursday night with a 9-4 victory over Orleans Rebels in Carp.

Adam Rueckwald earned the win on the slab. Andy Barber, who hit a home run, took the loss and had pitching relief from his brother Jeff.

The second game of the night between West Carleton Electric and Micksburg Twins got started but was halted before the first inning could be completed due to rain, and was eventually declared a rain out.

GOFL is back!

The Greater Ottawa Fastball League officially got back on the field on Wednesday night for the first time since September 2019 at the Manotick Arena diamond.

The Manotick Brewers (formed from what was previously I4C Victory) won 5-4 over the Kars Aces.

Adam Smith earned the win while Nick Ellis took the loss in relief of Cory Alkerton. Brad Pender hit a two run homer for the Aces.

Next up in GOFL action is a Thursday doubleheader in Carp with Ottawa Valley As facing Orleans Rebels at 7 pm and the Micksburg Twins playing West Carleton Electric at 9 pm.

Shawville R.A. to host a fastball showcase July 16-17

The Shawville Recreation Association diamonds will be the site of a men's fastball showcase on July 16 and 17. Five teams will be participating and there will be two games on Friday and seven on Saturday.

Orleans League to expand?

The Orleans Men's Fastball League has four teams and is looking to start play on Sunday July 11.

According to their Facebook page, they are trying to expand to have a fifth or sixth team in the OFL. Their Facebook site has more info: https://www.facebook.com/groups/297025021632705

Harbour Ball looking likely this summer

The Fitzroy Harbour Men's Fastball League - "Harbour Ball" appears to be getting back on the diamond this summer after taking a year off. 

The league had 8 teams in 2019, but will likely be going with a 4 team league for 2021, with hopes of adding teams back in 2022.

Games will be Wednesday nights and will likely start mid-July.

The Shawville Men's Fastpitch League will start play with all four teams in action on Thursday July 8. The league normally plays Sundays but will kick off mid-week due to the long weekend.

"The Glen" gets started this week

The Glen Cairn Men's Fastball League gets started this week with four games Monday and four games on Tuesday.

The league has 8 teams. They originally were going to have 4 team "cohorts" but with changes to provincial regulations, all teams will now play all others.
