Glen Cairn Men's Fastball League registration - UPDATED

Looks like registration is starting for the Glen Cairn Men's Fastball League in Kanata - and also looks like they have a new website.

UPDATE from T-Mac: Glen Cairn Men's Fastball League "in person" sign up this Sunday at Don Cherry's, 320 Eagleson Road in Kanata from 4 pm to 8 pm or sign up and pay online .

Blackburn Men's Fastball League registration

After another great season of men's fastball in the east end of the city, the Blackburn Men's Fastball League will be holding registration nights on February 29th and March 7th. Both nights will be open from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Blackburn Arms Pub (2586 Innes Rd, Gloucester, ON K1B 4Z6).

The BMFL is an 8 team men's (18+) league that plays a 21 game regular season plus playoffs. All games are played at the Blackburn Arena Diamond on either Sunday, Tuesday or Thursday evenings. For more information, please visit www.bmfl.ca.

Executive Director, Softball Ontario

Position Type - Full time

Softball Ontario is the provincial sport organization governing the sport of Softball.  Softball Ontario is a council organization and its goal is to promote and develop the sport of softball for its athletes, officials and volunteers by providing program and services at all levels of competition.

The Executive Director will be responsible for the overall management, operation and leadership at Softball Ontario.

Responsibilities include:
  • Overall office administration, including financial management and human resources
  • Strategic and Operational planning and development  
  • Liaison with National Association, applicable government Ministries and Member Associations
  • Report to the Board of Directors and oversee implementation of programs, plans and policies
  • Marketing and promotion
  • Risk Management
  • Prepare Association’s funding applications
  • Manage Association’s Scorekeeping Program
  • Degree or Diploma in Sports Administration or related field or equivalent experiences
  • Experience working with volunteer Boards and a good understanding of not-for-profit governance
  • Experienced office administrator and management of personnel
  • Knowledge of the Ontario and Canadian Sport system and CS4L
  • Financial capabilities, including creation and management of budgets and basic bookkeeping
  • Experience writing funding applications and reports, would be an asset
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of softball
  • Willing to work evenings and week-ends as required
  • Willing to travel occasionally and must have a valid driver’s licence

OASA announces new Hall of Fame

The Ontario Amateur Softball Association is pleased to announce the creation of an Ontario Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame. The nominees will include players, coaches, builders, and teams. It will be a virtual Hall of Fame located on the OASA website.
The first inductees into the OASA Hall of Fame will be players, coaches & builders that have been inducted into the International Softball Federation Hall of Fame and the Softball Canada Hall of Fame. This select group will inducted into the OASA Hall of Fame on September 24, 2016 at the Galt Curling Club.
The following players, coaches and builders will be inducted:
Richard (Dick) Hames, Norman Bagnall (Deceased), Harry Echler, Peter (Pete) Landers, Ray Tilley, Darren Zack, Adam Smith, Terry Baytor, Gil Read (Deceased), Robert Abbot, Vincent Walker, George Henry Campbell (Deceased), Leroy Pickard (Deceased), Claude Descheamps (Deceased), Jim Hartnett (Deceased), Lloyd Alguire (Deceased).
Teams being inducted in the first class will be the 1949 Tip Top Tailors team, the 2000, 2002, 2003 Owen Sound Selects, the Richmond Hill Dynes.
The next inductions will be announced at the Softball Summit being held on November 25, 2016 in conjunction with the OASA AGM.
