The Ontario Amateur Softball Association U20 Men's Elimination tournament will be held in New Hamburg (in Wilmot Township) from July 8-10. There are 13 teams participating. Berths are at stake for the Canadians in Napanee, August 2-7.
Westport Storm will be there, along with Canadians host Napanee Express. There a few GOFLers who will be playing in the event.
Noah Fleurie (Micksburg Twins), Owen Arseneault (Ottawa Valley As) and Owen Brown (West Carleton Electric) will be playing for the Westport Storm.
Joe Mick (Micksburg Twins) and Tyler Branchaud (Manotick Brewers) will be playing for the Napanee Express. Connor Brooks of Napanee also played a couple of GOFL games for the Twins last year.

The Ontario Amateur Softball Association U15 Boys Elimination tournament will be held in Grafton from July 8-10. There are 13 teams participating. Berths are at stake for the Canadians in Wilmot, ON from August 3-7.
Stittsville has a team entered in the event, coached by former GOFLer Al Read. Napanee Express will also be there.

The Greater Ottawa Fastball League had three games in Manotick on Wednesday night.
Quyon Flyers 7 Kars Aces 2
Trevor Lahey had the pitching win for Quyon while Brad Porter took the loss for Kars. Shawn Laframboise hit a solo homer and Dennis McCleary hit a two run shot for the Flyers.
Quyon Flyers 9 Orleans Rebels 1
The Flyers also won the late game, with the craft lefty Lahey getting another win, this time in a five inning run rule match. Andy Barber took the loss for the Rebels.
Ottawa Valley As 9 Kars Aces 3
Ben Broek was the winning putcher in this match up while Nick Ellis was tagged with the loss.

Week 8 of the Greater Ottawa Fastball League will feature six games.
Wednesday night there are three games in Manotick. At 7 p.m. on the main diamond, the Kars Aces (4-3) host the Quyon Flyers (3-3). Following that, the Flyers will play the Orleans Rebels (5-3) at the Arena diamond at 9 p.m. At the main diamond at 9 p.m., the Ottawa Valley As (2-5-2) will play the Aces.
On Thursday there is a doubleheader in Carp, with the Valley As hosting the Aces at 7 p.m. and the Manotick Brewers (5-3) at 9 p.m.
In Shawville on Thursday, West Carleton Electric (1-4-2) will face the Flyers at 7:30 p.m.
The Micksburg Twins (5-2) were scheduled to play that night as well in Shawville, but that game will be postponed as the Cheneaux Bridge at Portage-du-Fort crossing the Ottawa River is out of service from 8 p.m. that night until 5 a.m. the next day.
The Osgoode Chiefs (3-5) also have the week off as they prepare for the U23 Elimnation tournament in Woodstock this upcoming weekend.

Osgoode Chiefs of the Greater Ottawa Fastball League will be bringing their tournament team to U23 elims and will be the host team for the event.

West Carleton Electric and Westport Storm will be there along with host Napanee Express. Gabe Brown and Conner Hopper of the GOFL's West Carleton Electric also play on the U17 team. Zach Branchaud of the GOFL's Manotick Brewers will be there with Napanee.
The bracket is on the OASA website. As luck would have it, the random draw selected West Carleton to play Westport in first game of the event.

The New York Gremlins won the eight team Hill United Chiefs Challenge tournament in Simcoe, ON this past weekend with a dramatic 5-4 win over the Grande Prairie, AB Pirates in the final. Seven of the teams were in the International Softball Congress Top 16 ranked teams.
Australian pitcher Andrew Kirkpatrick drilled a solo shot over the deep fence (275 ft) to win the game for the Gremlins in the bottom of the seventh. Zach "Zippy" Pierce took the loss. The Pirates had pitcher Riley Manion of Napanee on their roster, but he did not see any action in the final.
Hill United and Toronto Batmen lost in the semi-finals.
The Niagara Stompers lost in the quarter-final. GOFLers Matt Greer and Gregg Garrity were playing for the Stompers. Napanee U20 player Connor Brooks also played for the Stompers and pitched in their playoff game.
The other participating teams were Ohsweken Redmen, Bear Creek Express and Niagara Snappers.
The games were livestreamed on Softball Premier TV on YouTube and Facebook, with play-by-play by Blair Setford, who did an excellent job. I am not just saying that because he gave this blog a shout-out on Friday night, though it was appreciated!

The Kars Aces beat the Osgoode Chiefs 5-1 in Greater Ottawa Fastball League play on Monday night in Osgoode.
Nick Ellis had the pitching win for Kars, his first in the GOFL. Cory Baldwin was the losing pitcher.
Danny Powers hit a two run homer for the Aces.

The Greater Ottawa Fastball League Week #7 has five games on the schedule.
Monday night in Osgoode, the Chiefs (3-4) host the Kars Aces (2-3) at 8 p.m.
Wednesday night is a rare single game in Manotick as the Micksburg Twins (5-1) are in to play the Aces at 7:30 p.m. (time updated).
Thursday night in Carp sees the Ottawa Valley As (2-5-1) host West Carleton Electric (1-4-1) at 8:30 p.m. That night there is also a game in Shawville, with the Quyon Flyers (2-3) hosting Manotick Brewers (5-2) at 7:30 p.m. Osgoode was to play in Shawville on Thursday as well but that will be moved until later in the season.
The Orleans Rebels (5-3) have the week off.

The Fitzroy Harbour Men's Fastball League annual tournament wrapped up on Sunday afternon with the "A" champions and "B" champions being crowned.
The "A" side semi-finals saw the Micksburg Kool Vent Heat beat Hicks Custom Interiors to make the finals, while Bren Electric edged Baird Construction 4-3 in the other semi-final.
The "A" final was a barnburner. Kool Vent was up 6-2 after six complete, but the Electricians came back to tie the game in the seventh, with Adam Rueckwald's homer tying it up. There were no runs scored in the eighth and top of the ninth. Matt McIntyre's walk off three run homer in the bottom of the ninth earned Kool Vent the Harbour Ball championship. Rueckwald and McIntyre were named their respective teams' MVP of the final. Rueckwald, Mitch Taylor and Kevin Bisch threw for the home town Bren Electric, while John Enright and Noah Fleurie pitched for the Heat.

The "B" final match up had the Junior 'Trics emerge victorious with a 10-7 win over the Plumbers, making several fathers happy on their day. Gabe Brown and Blake Bramburger pitched for WC Electric while Shawn Ryan and Tyler Craig threw for Murphy's. Conner Hopper, the WC catcher who hit a homer, was named MVP for the winners, while Ryan took MVP honours for the finalists.

The Micksburg Twins won both games of their Thursday night Greater Ottawa Fastball League doubleheader on Thursday night.
Micksburg 9 West Carleton 7
The first game of the night saw the Twins prevail 9-7 over West Carleton Electric. Noah Fleurie earned the win, striking out eight batters and allowing five hits. John Enright faced two batters in relief to save the game. Steve Cavanagh took the loss.
Andy McIntyre was 2 for 3, and scored two runs for the Twins, while cousin Matt McIntyre was 3 for 4 with a triple and scored twice. Scott Conroy had two singles and a double, two RBIs and scored twice.
Chris Trafford had a two RBI double for WC, while Chris Costello had a single and a walk and scored twice.
Micksburg 7 Ottawa Valley As 0
In the late game the Twins prevailed 7-0 over the Ottawa Valley As. John Enright earned the win. Ben Broek took the loss. Paul Griffith had two hits for the Twins, and a spectacular slide at third.

There were three games in Manotick in Greater Ottawa Fastball League play on Wednesday night.
Manotick Brewers 8 Ottawa Valley As 3
Luc D'Entremont earned the win for the Brewers on the first game at the main diamond. Chris MacFarlane and Tyler Branchaud hit homers for Manotick. Ben Broek took the loss for Valley.
Ottawa Valley As 5 Osgoode Chiefs 4
Adam Rueckwald was the winning pitcher while Cory Baldwin was tagged with the loss at the late game on the main diamond.
Orleans Rebels 14 Kars Aces 5
Andy Barber took the win for the game at the arena diamond. Brother Derek Barber hit a homer for the Rebels, as did Spencer Rodd. Nick Ellis was the losing pitcher and he had relief from Kurtis Summers. Kristian Knapp had a grand slam for the Aces.

The Wednesday night schedule for the Greater Ottawa Fastball League has been adjusted.
There will be a doubleheader in Manotick on the main diamond, with the Ottawa Valley As in for two games - 7 p.m. vs Manotick Brewers and 9 p.m. vs Osgoode Chiefs.
The previously scheduled doubleheader at Pierre Rocque Park (Quyon vs Kars / Orleans) is postponed due to diamond availability issues. However, there is a game added to the schedule at the Manotick second diamond, with the Orleans Rebels playing the Kars Aces at 8:30 p.m.
Thursday night sees the Micksburg Twins hosting a doubleheader with West Carleton Electric in at 7 p.m. and Valley As at 9 p.m.
The Monday game already played had the Chiefs defeating the Aces 7-4 at the first over GOFL game at the Osgoode diamond.
The Quyon Flyers now have the week off since their doubleheader was postponed.

The Osgoode Chiefs won over the Kars Aces 7-4 in Greater Ottawa Fastball League play in Osgoode on Monday night.
Cory Baldwin earned the win while Brad Porter took the loss. Kristian Knapp and Matt Alkerton had solo homeruns for the Aces. Cole Hodges had an inside the park homer for Osgoode which plated three runs.

Week 5 of the Greater Ottawa Fastball League schedule features the following games.
Tuesday night in Fitzroy Harbour, Osgoode Chiefs (2-3) at West Carleton Electric (1-3-1) at 8:30 p.m.
Wednesday night doubleheader hosted by Orleans Rebels (3-2) at 7 p.m. vs Manotick Brewers (3-2) and 9 p.m. vs Ottawa Valley As (1-2-1). These games were originally slated for Pierre Rocque Park but have been moved to the Manotick diamonds.
The As host the Kars Aces (2-1) at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Carp diamond. Also on Thursday, the Micksburg Twins (3-1) host a doubleheader vs. Quyon Flyers (2-3) at 7 p.m. and the late game against the Brewers.

Seventeen year old Noah Fleurie earned his first career GOFL pitching win. Ben Broek took the loss. Jared Steege had a couple of key hits for the Twins.

The Manotick Brewers and Osgoode Chiefs won their games in the Greater Ottawa Fastball League Wednesday night doubleheader in Manotick.
The Brewers won the early game 11-4 over West Carleton Electric. Luc D'Entremont earned the win on the slab, while Steve Cavanagh took the loss.
The late game saw the Osgoode Chiefs shut out the Electric 11-0, with Matt McKay earning the win and Gabe Brown taking the loss.

The Softball Canada Men's u23 Fast Pitch Canadian Championships are taking place this August 2nd - 7th in Carp! The organizers are looking for volunteers to help us put on this amazing event. We're looking for people to help us with scorekeeping, announcing games, running the scoreboard, taking/selling tickets at the gate, and general volunteers. If you're interested in volunteering please fill out this google form or contact Steph Bouchey (stephbouchey@gmail.com) or Adam Rueckwald (arueckwald@outlook.com) directly.
We will be holding a free scorekeeping clinic for all interested scorekeepers on June 16th at the Carp Fairgrounds.
