Axemen finish third at the Molly

The Kingston Axemen finished third at the ten-team Molly Sherman Memorial Tournament in Elkland, Pennsylvania this weekend.

Rain delayed things so they only got one game in on Saturday, a 12-0 win over Penton Automotive. Jordan Macdonald got the win. Mike Avery had four RBIs for Kingston. Dale Schweyer took the loss.

On Sunday morning, the Axemen beat Team 518 of upstate New York by a score of 7-4. Joran Graham had the complete game win, striking out 16, and had an RBI at the plate. Avery and Aaron Harvey both homered for the Axemen. Christian Puncher took the loss for 518.

On Saturday afternoon, with a trip to the final on the line, the Axemen lost to Sandlot Fastpitch from Stevens, PA 3-2 in a well played game. Andy Barber threw well despite taking the loss, striking out 13. Barber also had two hits and an RBI. Colton Lecuyer had a solo shot for Kingston. Julian Fernandez and Erick Chaparro threw for Sandlot.

The Axemen then faced PA Storm but fell 5-0 in a rain-shortened game. Macdonald started for Kingston and Barber finished. Cody Martin earned the win for the Storm.

Jeff Seed inducted in to Brockville and Area Sports Hall of Fame

Congratulations to Jeff Seed, a tremendous fastball player (and great guy), for being inducted in the Brockville and Area Sports Hall of Fame.

Maurice Beauregard Memorial game a close one

The men's fastball game at the Maurice Beauregard Memorial event in Campbell’s Bay, QC was once again a close finish, with the Flyers prevailing 4-3 over the Athletics. 

Like previous years, a good crowd was on hand to witness the game which was played in the middle of a community 3-pitch softball tournament. 

Adam Reuckwald had the win on the slab, while Marc "Kayser" Lavigne took the loss in relief of Gabe Brown and Daniel Read.

The Athletics opened the scoring in the second. Carter Beauregard singled and ended up scoring on a Kayser double.

The Athletics added two in the third. Bennett Rusenstrom doubled, took third on a wild pitch and scored on Ethan Howard's sacrifice fly. Hunter Beauregard then reached on an error and scored on Read's double.

The veterans on the Flyers side got two back in the sixth. Rueckwald walked, Darryl Crawford singled, followed by an Adam Brown single driving in a run. An RBI ground out by Troy Gravelle scored a second run.

The Flyers come back to win it in the bottom of the seventh. Julien Gagnon walked to lead things off and stole second base. After a flyout, two walks to Jared Murray and Rueckwald loaded the bases. Hometown favourite Crawford's infield single scored Gagnon to tie it, and a single by Adam Brown walked it off as a 4-3 final.

Axemen win opener in Elklamd

The 20th Annual Molly Sherman Memorial Tournament experienced a significant rain delay on Saturday, but some games did get played.

The Kingston Axemen were scheduled to play their first game at 10:45 a.m. but didn't start until about 10 hours later. They beat Penton Automotive 12-0. Jordan "Fu" Macdonald had the win while Dale Schweyer took the loss.

The Axemen get up early for their next game, an 8 a.m. start on Sunday.

Carp Shootout schedule released for June 5-7

The Carp Shootout has released the schedule for the 2026 version of the event. There are eight teams that will be playing at the Carp Fairgrounds on June 5-7 in this tournament that pays out for every win.

Teams include the Micksburg Twins, Los Caballos and the Vars Aces of the Greater Ottawa Fastball League, as well GOFL affiliate member West Carleton Electric U20. The Ottawa Valley Grains are another local team made up of GOFL players. 

Out of province teams include the Team Quebec U20 team, the Nova Scotia Mastodons U23 club and the CPI Bucks from update New York.

Games start on Friday night at 7 p.m. with the finals at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.

20th Annual Molly Sherman tournament this weekend in Elkland

The 20th Annual Molly Sherman Memorial Tournament is being held this weekend in Elkland, Pennsylvania with 10 teams participating, including Kingston Axemen which has several Greater Ottawa Fastball League players on the roster. Also attending are the CPI Bucks from upstate New York who will be appearing at the Carp Shootout in early June.

Action gets started at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning, with the final scheduled on Sunday at 6 p.m.

WC U20 doubleheader on May 31 in Kinburn

West Carleton Electric U20 will be hosting the Southeastern Ontario Screaming Eagles U20 team based out of Sydenham for an exhibition doubleheader in Kinburn on Sunday May 31.

The first game is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. with a second to follow at 1:30 p.m. 

The Kinburn diamond has been upgraded recently and a new scoreboard has been installed. The Kinburn Community Association will be offering refreshments with organizations advising that Kinburn is home to the "Dinger Dog".

West Carleton Electric will be the host team at the 2026 Softball Canada U20 Canadian Championship from August 4 to 9 in Carp. The Screaming Eagles will be attempting to qualify for a spot at this event at the Ontario Amateur Softball Association elimination tournament July 3-5 in Drumbo, ON.

Flyers and WC U20 result from Thursday

The Pontiac Flyers hosted West Carleton Electric U20 in a Greater Ottawa Fastball League exhibition game on Thursday night in Shawville, with the Flyers prevailing 9-1.

Drew Hathway pitched for the home team, while Carter Marshall and Finn Barton threw for WC U20. 

The game was tight at 3-1 until the Flyers broke things open in the bottom of the sixth to end the game on the run rule. Hathway and Cade Kuehl had home runs for Pontiac.

Maurice Beauregard Memorial fastball game this Saturday

The Maurice Beauregard Memorial is back for the fourth time. This year's fastball game is Saturday May 23rd at 6 p.m., an exhibition match in the midde of the annual 3-pitch ball tournament. There will be refreshments available at the bar onsite.

This annual tournament and fastball game celebrates Maurice’s legacy and raises money for the Maurice Beauregard Community and Leadership awards given to three high school graduates in the Pontiac region, and the Maurice Beauregard Park. 

The tournament, and the exhibition fastball game, will be held in Campbell’s Bay at the Maurice Beauregard Park (2 Second Street, Campbell’s Bay, Quebec, J0X 1K0).

Wednesday night results from Manotick (updated)

Results from the Wednesday night doubleheader in Manotick.

Game 1 - Vars Aces 2 Los Caballos 2

The Aces and Caballos opened up their season with a 2-2 tie in the early game. Andy Barber tossed a two-hitter for Vars, while Will Lowe pitched for the Los Caballos.

Pedro Lopez hit a home run for Los Caballos, as did Felipe Morales whose HR was inside-the-park.

Cory Morrison was 2 for 3 for the Aces.

Game 2 - Manotick Brewers 13 Pontiac Flyers 4

The late game saw Manotick get by Pontiac 13-4 in five innings. Luc D'Entremont had the win for the Brewers and had relief from Carter Marshall. Matt Greer took the loss for the Flyers.

Tyler Branchaud had a three-run homer for Manotick, while Zack Branchaud was 2 for 3 with a homer and 5 RBIs on the night. Newcomer Kian Poitras was 2 for 3 with a double and hit by pitch for Manotick.

Micksburg wins in Fitzroy

The Micksburg Twins defeated the West Carleton Electric 9-0 in Greater Ottawa Fastball League play in Fitzroy Harbour on Tuesday night. 

Joran Graham earned the win with an inning of relief from John Enright. Ryland Hill took the loss with an inning of relief from Gabe Brown.

The Twins put up four in the first. Three consecutive walks to Matt McIntyre, Graham and Jared Steege loaded the bases. McIntyre took home in a wild pitch, followed by a three run homer by Joe Mick.

In the third, Graham led off for the visitors with a single. Walks to Steege and Mick loaded the bases. A single by Enright that was almost caught but dropped into the gap scorer Graham. Jason McIntyre drove in another run with a hard hit infield single that was knocked down by shortstop Colton Lecuyer to save a run. A 5-3 double play initiated by Dylan Rorwick got the Trics out of the inning.

Micksburg added three in the fourth. Walks to Andrew and Matt McIntyre put two on. Graham singled to score one. After a ground out, a Joe Mick laser beam to left scored another two.

Brown got the only WC hit of the game in the bottom of the fifth to break up the no hitter.

WC edges Pontiac

West Carleton Electric got by the Pontiac Flyers by a score of 6-5 in Greater Ottawa Fastball League play in Shawville on Thursday night.

Adam Rueckwald had the complete game win for WC, while Drew Hathway took the loss in relief of Matt Greer.

Colton Lecuyer hit a home run for the 'Trics on the first pitch of the game to give West Carleton a 1-0 lead.

The Flyers evened the score in the third when Hunter Beauregard's triple scored Greer who had walked.

The visitors went ahead 2-1 in the top of the fourth. Bryce Rebertz doubled, moved to third on a ground out and scored on a dropped third strike when the throw went to first.

Pontiac jumped out to a 3-2 lead in the bottom of four on Evan Atkinson's two run shot which scored Steve McCord who had doubled.

It was a tied game at three in the top of the fifth  after Lecuyer doubled and was plated on a Trevor Barton single for West Carleton.

The top of seven saw the Trics put up three. Dylan Rorwick and Conner Hopper both singled. With runners on the corners, Hopper stole second and Rorwick scored on the throw. A single by Rebertz scored Hopper, and double by Gabe Brown scored Rebertz.

Pontiac replied with two runs to just fall short. Shawn Laframboise singled to start off, followed by a Dennis McCleary single. Laframboise advanced to third on a fly out, and scored on an infield single by Cade Kuehl. Another single by Todd Hearty scored a run, but the game ended 6-5 for WC.

Vars vs Micksburg postponed

With the rainy weather Wednesday and some more rain during the day on Thursday,  the Greater Ottawa Fastball League game in Micksburg with the Twins hosting the Vars Aces had to be postponed due to poor field conditions. 

Wednesday washout

The rainy weather on Wednesday means that the Greater Ottawa Fastball League game tonight in Manotick (Brewers vs Los Caballos) is rained out, as is the Opening Night of Harbour Ball (Fitzroy Harbour Men's Fastball League).

GOFL starts off in Fitzroy

The Greater Ottawa Fastball League got started on Tuesday night with an exhibition game in Fitzroy Harbour between West Carleton Electric U20 and the West Carleton Electric men's team.

The U20s out-slugged the men's team 16-9. Kaden Fowler and Carter Marshall pitched for the U20s while Adam Rueckwald and Gabe Brown threw for the men's team.

Colton Lecuyer had two homers for the U20s, including a grand slam, and Fowler hit one out as well. Sean Lecuyer, who wasn't coaching the U20s tonight but was playing with the Electric men's team, hit a homer too.

ISC East Qualifier schedule released

The schedule for the International Softball Congress Qualifer on June 19-21 in Mitchell, ON has been announced. 

There are six teams in the top end White men's division, 12 in the Red men's division and six in the 50+ Legends group.

While rosters haven't been released yet, there should be Greater Ottawa Fastball League representation on the Kingston Axemen, Toronto Batmen U23, and Waterdown Hammer in the Red Division as well as with the Hammer's Legends team.

Glen Cairn has six teams in '26

The Glen Cairn Men's Fastball League returns again with six teams for the 2026 season.

The Glen will play Mondays at the Grove in Stittsville and Tuesdays at the Richmond Arena diamond, as the grounds at AY Jackson Secondary School are still under repair.

The teams this year are Corfix, Upper Canada Elevators, KMS Plumbing and Heating, D. King Drywall Storm, Sting Electric and "Team 6" which is looking for a sponsor.

On the June 12-14 weekend, the Glen will host its annual tournament at the Carp Fairgrounds, where the six league teams will compete with six "outside" teams in what is always an enjoyable event.

Shawville Men's league has four teams

The Shawville Men's Fastpitch League is back for the 2026 campaign with a four team league, same as last year.

There are some new faces in the league, including some "dads" brought out of retirement to play. 

Games, beginning May 25, are on Mondays at the Shawville, QC Recreation Association diamonds. The league looks to wrap up with a year end tournament on the final weekend of August.

The teams are the Scrappers, Athletics, Flyers and Royals. Info on rosters and the schedule is available on Facebook. 

Osgoode league returns for Year Two

The Osgoode Men’s Fastball League is returning for its second year, again with 4 teams. 

Teams are B&T MacFarlane (captain: Trevor Beaulieu), Petersen Farms (Zack Branchaud), Dewan Painting (Jack Dewan), and Metcalfe Clinical (Jack Wallace). 

The season begins on May 25th, and games are played every Monday at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.. at the Kars diamond. 

Organizers expect the league to be more competitive this year with some new players in the league (Cory Baldwin, Zack and Tyler Branchaud, and David Bahm from WC).

BMFL starts Tuesday

The 2026 BMFL regular season gets underway on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. 

For the 2026 season, five teams will compete for the BMFL championship: Bandits, Blue Jays, Braves, Goodfellows and Rogues. Each team will also play a regular season game against the Lacroix Sports Legends team. 

Games will be played at the Blackburn Arena diamond on Tuesdays at 8:00 pm and Thursdays at 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm. 

Micksburg league expands

The Micksburg Men's Fastball league will be back this year after a successful return to the valley last season. Games will be held every Tuesday night at 6:45pm and 8:45pm at the Micksburg diamond.

The league expanded this year adding a 5th team and are very excited for another year of fastball in Micksburg as the DC Micksburg Northstars look to repeat as champions.

The Fitzroy Harbour Men's Fastball League will have seven teams for the 2006 season. The league plays Wednesday nights at the Fitzroy Harbour Community Centre starting May 13.

The Carp Men's Fastball League is returning with four teams for the 2026 season.

The league plays on Tuesday nights at the Carp Fairgrounds diamonds and wraps up the season with a playoff tournament in early September.

GOFL back for 2026

The Greater Ottawa Men's Fastball is back for 2026 with the same six teams as last season.
