Micksburg - Manotick game one report

from Paul Griffith
On a nice night in Micksburg in front of a good crowd the Twins welcomed Manotick Brewers into town for game one of the Greater Ottawa Fastball League semi-finals. The twins started Joran Graham and Manotick countered with Carley Shane.

In the top half of the first, Joran sat down the side with 3 strikeouts, Micksburg got on the board early in the game in the bottom half of 1 when Graham drew a one out walk and then Jared Steege hit 2-run line shot over the right center fence to give the home team the 2-0 lead. In the top of second Manotick was able to get two base runners with two out as Trevor Beaulieu got hit by a pitch and then Becker drew a walk. Graham was able to strike out the next batter stranding the two runners.

In the bottom of the second the Twins added to their lead as John Enright lead the inning off with a homerun to centerfield to make it 3-0 Twins. Shane was then able to limit the damage with two strikeouts and left a runner on second.

In the third inning Micksburg was able to give Graham some insurance runs as Steege led the inning off with a walk and Joe Mick hit a double down the right field line scoring Steege from first, the next batter Scott Conroy then singled to left field and Mick was able to score to make it 5-0 Twins. After a fielder's choice and a walk batter with one out Paul Griffith then singled to right scoring Quinton Rook from second to make it 6-0 after 3 innings. Graham continued his dominance on the mound striking out another 2 batters of his 13 k in the game to get through 3 innings. In the bottom of the  4thGraham led off with a walk and was replaced by a pinch runner, Steege then hit a single to put runners on the corners. Mick was able to hit a sac fly scoring 1 to make it 7-0 for the home team. Shane was able to pitch around a couple walks stranding the bases loaded. In the top of the fifth inning Graham was able to retire the first two hitters with strike outs and then a nice diving catch by left fielder Nolan Rook to end the game 7-0 and give the Micksburg Twins a 1-0 series lead.
